This course introduces students to the theory and practice of learning, including cognition and memory in the brain, the role of motivation, and how people learn from others. Students will explore theories that are based on some combination of behavioral psychology, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and other scientific perspectives. Students will also learn about approaches to teaching that draw on these theories.
In this course students will survey traditional and contemporary theories of learning, instruction and the application of these theories for the preparation of learning materials. This course will encourage educators seeking to integrate theory, knowledge, research and practice to improve teaching and learning. This is a 6 credit hour course and is allotted 6 weeks of time.
