Grief Therapy and Sudden Death is a course that focuses on the psychological and emotional challenges that can arise when an individual experiences the sudden loss of a loved one, and how to support individuals through the grief process in these circumstances. It is designed to provide students with an understanding of the unique challenges and issues faced by individuals who are grieving the sudden loss of a loved one, as well as the various approaches and techniques that can be used to support them through this difficult process.
Course Overview: This course is part of the Ethereal Master Degree Program in Grief Therapy at the School of Grief Education at AITU.
It is a 6-hour semester course that must be completed within 6 weeks.
This course consists mainly of self-exploration by way of visits, readings, viewings, and research.
Course Objectives: The aim is to learn about unexpected and sudden loss, to learn how to recognize signals indicating possible problems in post-death mourn-ing, as well as learning appropriate interventions that can be used to prevent the risk of those problems. To learn about suicide and its influence on its survivors (loved-ones of those who died) and society.
