This course provides an overview of ethical issues related to grief counseling. It covers topics such as the role of a grief counselor, the ethical implications of providing counseling services, and strategies for addressing ethical dilemmas. The course will also discuss how to recognize and respond to potential ethical violations in grief counseling, as well as how to apply professional codes of ethics when providing grief counseling services. By the end of this course, students will have a better understanding of the complex ethical considerations that come with providing grief counseling services.
This course is part of the Accelerated Doctorate in Grief Counseling program at AITU. The aim of this course is provide students with an overview of major ethical issues in counseling and how to handle a variety of situations in practice, including self-awareness, multicultural sensitivity, legal issues, confidentiality, boundaries, multiple relationships, issues surrounding consultation and supervision, and a selection of ethical issues related to work with couples, families, groups and communities. It is a 6-hour semester course that should be completed within 6 weeks.
