This course is designed to give students an overview of the distance education industry, and it will cover the history of distance education, its evolution over time, and its current state. It will also give your students a basic understanding of how distance education works and how it can be used effectively as a tool for teaching. The course will include an introduction to the technologies used in distance education and how they’ve changed over time. Finally, this course will provide your students with an introduction to some of the legal issues surrounding distance education, such as copyright law.
This course will provide an introduction to the methodology, history and technology of distance learning approaches to instruction. Students will examine the use of a variety of media, including video, computers/Internet, broadcast technologies and software, that have been used in successful distance learning programs. This is a 6 credit hour course and is allotted 6 weeks of time.
